When the media used the word “horse,” they did so as if it were a quotation. Even their finger gestures were a part of the media’s stance! What did they know about Jessy that Jessy wasn’t aware of? Jessy began to respond by asking why the person had mentioned her horse in that way. She was only met with more questions. She was constantly asked if her horse really was a horse. Jessy began to become frustrated. She wanted to know what was so strange about the way they referred to her horse.
She asked them if they’d seen anything that she hadn’t. The air quotes continued, but they remained silent. Jessy didn’t understand what they meant. She became worried that they might have discovered something about her horse she did not know. She was getting no real answers to her questions. It seemed strange. The journalists did not answer, but used the opportunity of asking her more questions.
