Some cases of persistent fever have been linked to emotional tension; this condition is also known as psychogenic fever. This condition has been observed most frequently in women and stress-tolerant individuals. Ibuprofen is ineffective against stress-induced fever; therefore, antidepressants are recommended as a treatment for this form of fever.
