A voice that is low or softer
Parkinson’s affects the smooth muscle that produces voice in the pharynx. The pitch and tone of a person’s voice will be very low when they have Parkinson’s. One of the symptoms of Parkinson’s is a change in your voice tone or pitch. Parkinson’s patients also experience a change in their voice tone and pitch as they age. A chest infection or cold may also cause you to sound different, but if the voice is persistently low and soft, it’s time to visit a doctor to rule out Parkinson’s.
