Loss Of Smell

Parkinson’s disease can affect the sense of scent (anosmia). Some patients are unable to smell certain foods or fragrances. A person who has difficulty smelling certain foods, such as licorice or bananas, should consult a doctor to check for Parkinson’s. The sense of smell is also affected by a stuffy nose, a cold or other ailments. However, it will return to normal over time. This is different from Parkinson’s Disease where the patient cannot enjoy the smells of food and other things.
