Racial Factors
In the past, studies have shown that black people are less likely than people from other ethnicities to be affected by Parkinson’s. Some experts explain, however, that the lack of reporting of Parkinson’s in black people can be attributed to a general lack of awareness within the black community. A higher risk of misdiagnosis could also be a reason for the underreporting. Researchers and doctors do not know the exact reason behind Parkinson’s Disease. Also, it is not clear why Parkinson’s disease progresses differently in each person. It is therefore difficult to predict the progress of the disease. [5]
