Autoimmune factors
A study conducted in 2017 with hundreds of patients found a possible genetic relationship between autoimmune disorders and Parkinson’s Disease. Some autoimmune conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, may cause some of the symptoms of Parkinson’s. Researchers in Taiwan who examined health records found that people with autoimmune disorders, specifically rheumatoid arthritis, had a higher 1.37 risk of developing Parkinson’s.
