Renal Biopsy
The physician may recommend a kidney biopsy, which involves extracting a tissue sample from the patient’s kidney. Under local anaesthesia, the doctors conduct a kidney biopsy by inserting a thin, long tube through the patient’s skin and into the kidney. The kidney tissue sample is then sent to a laboratory for additional testing to establish the cause of kidney disease. There are two varieties of kidney biopsies, namely laparoscopic and percutaneous biopsies. The physician determines which form of biopsy is most appropriate for a patient.
