Occasionally, individuals confuse kidney discomfort with back pain. Each individual is born with two kidneys. They are situated on each side of the vertebrae, just above the waist. Usually, discomfort in the lower back is the source of back pain. In the back, kidney discomfort is located higher and deeper. On one side of the vertebrae, beneath the ribcage, the kidneys are present. The kidneys cause discomfort in the sides or the middle of the upper back (often beneath the ribs and on the left or right side of the spine). The discomfort may also spread to other areas, such as the groyne or abdomen. If the blood restricts the passage into a kidney, it may or may not result in death. They could potentially cause kidney failure.
The cause of kidney pain is obstruction or enlargement of the urinary or kidney tract. Other symptoms, including vomiting, fever, or excruciating urination, may indicate a kidney problem. Each kidney measures approximately four or five inches in length, or the size of a sizable fist. The kidney is bean-shaped and located on one of your two vertebrae. Each kidney contains approximately one million nephrons, which are microscopic filters. Blood filtration is the responsibility of the kidney. By removing excess waste and fluid from the circulation, the electrolyte and fluid balance is maintained. All of the blood in the body may pass through the kidney approximately forty times per day.
