Abdominal pain
Pain in the liver is caused by several conditions. It can also take on different forms. Most people experience a dull, diffused and non-radiating abdominal pain in the upper right quadrant. Other conditions may cause a stabbing, severe pain that can take your breath away. The pain can be caused by conditions such as portal vein obstruction, and it may also cause inflammation in the abdomen. It may radiate to the back, or even the tip of your right shoulder.
If you feel a radiating or nonradiating pain on your upper abdomen, this is a sign that something is wrong with the liver and it needs to be addressed immediately. Labor pain can be caused by a variety of factors.
- Hepatitis in all its forms
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Cirrhosis of the liver
- Hemochromatosis
- Reye syndrome
- Liver cancer
