What triggers acne?

As the largest organ, skin can be affected by a variety of metabolic events. It maintains a constant interface with the environment, exposing it to multiple factors that can alter its normal biological and chemical structure. Acne results from chemical reactions; the four entities listed below interact in pathological ways to induce acne.
Pathogenic bacteria
Propionibacterium acnes feeds on sebum and fatty acid produced by sebaceous glands. It is a component of normal dermal flora; however, in the presence of underlying disturbances, its replication outweighs the normal equilibrium and causes acne.
