Acne – Complicated Cases
Acne-caused pimples and zits are not nearly as problematic as the scarring they leave behind. Inflammation caused by zits and pimples results in acne scarring. Occasionally, the infected area becomes superficial or enlarges due to the uncontrolled production of collagen and fiber. Acne has numerous severe complications. Acne is not a life-threatening disease, but if left untreated, it can leave blemishes that become a cosmetic concern for many young women. If you touch or perturb your zit, you may cause more severe scarring. Three varieties of acne scars exist.
Atrophic wounds
Occasionally, the skin is unable to heal correctly due to the disruption of connective tissue production and decreased collagen production, resulting in pitted or indented skin. In such instances, regeneration occurs beneath the epidermis. This scarring is uniform. The pitted epidermis cannot heal with time and treatment is necessary. Fillers for soft tissue can be used to treat pitted skin with immediate results.
