Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy employs x-rays or radioactive substances to kill cancer cells and reduce the size of tumors. Radiation therapy is a crucial component of treatment for many patients; the treatment strategy is individualized for each patient based on their treatment needs and objectives.
Radiation therapy can be recommended after surgery to eliminate any residual cancer cells in lymph node-removed regions. The treatment is also used to alleviate cancer symptoms and prevent the disease’s spread.
Radiation therapy can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. If the therapy is administered before other treatments, it will aid in tumor shrinkage, and if it is administered after, it will prevent the development of any remaining cancer cells.
The oncologists monitor the efficacy of radiation therapy for the pharynx and then adjust the treatments accordingly.
