Fair Skin
People with lighter complexions are more likely to develop skin cancer than those with darker complexions. The fewer pigments present in the epidermis, the less protection the cells will have from UV radiation. Therefore, nonmelanoma cancer is uncommon if the skin is black, but the likelihood is high if the skin is lighter.
Albinism is a genetic disorder in which the epidermis fails to produce melanin. Albino individuals have white skin and pale blonde hair, and they have the highest risk of developing skin cancer due to their lack of natural sun protection.
