a sense of melancholy
One of the two principal phases of bipolar disorder symptoms is sadness and melancholy. A person lacks motivation and lacks interest in their daily activities. During a depressive episode of bipolar disorder, patients do not want to get out of bed and are more prone to remorse, restlessness, irritability, and mood swings. Doctors explain that if a person’s depressive mood persists for at least two weeks, they are more likely to have bipolar disorder. In cases of bipolar depression, the patient may acquire weight, sleep excessively, move and speak slowly, and gain weight.
