Plasma Transfer
Plasma exchange has become an established treatment option for patients with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) in recent years. It is a method for eliminating plasma from the general circulation, permitting erythrocytes to float freely in the plasma while removing metabolic waste products of red blood cell destruction. Plasma exchange (also known as apheresis or plasmapheresis) eliminates waste products and remnants of blood cell destruction. In addition, a portion of your blood plasma is replaced with donor plasma to alleviate HUS symptoms and enhance prognosis.
