Contraceptive capsules
Oral contraceptives or birth control pills have become a very prevalent method of contraception. In fact, more than 18.5 million women in the United States alone use them as their primary method of contraception. Despite the fact that many women are pleased with their decision to use birth control tablets, others experience adverse side effects that make it difficult to continue doing so. Hemolytic uremic syndrome, one of the most concerning adverse effects, is uncommon and frequently associated with the pill.
It is true that the use of birth control tablets increases the risk of developing this condition, but only a small percentage of women who develop HUS did so after using the pill. Taking into consideration other risk factors, it is unclear whether the pill alone is to blame in these instances.
