Unusual bruising or hemorrhage
One of the classic symptoms of hemolytic uremic syndrome is bruising. In Hemolytic Uremic syndrome (HUS), bruises consist of a discolored, swollen, and oozing red area. This occurs when the destruction of red blood cells exceeds the capacity of the blood vessels to transport them. Due to this, hemolysis results in coagulation. This makes the blood viscous and sticky, preventing it from moving efficiently through the blood vessels.
