Cataract Surgery complications
- Inflammation:
The most common complications following cataract surgery are swelling and redness. Doctors may advise patients to use eyedrops to reduce swelling. The swelling will go down in a couple of days. However, if you notice anything abnormal, consult your doctor.
- Infection:
Germs can still cause eye infections after cataract surgery. The doctor may prescribe eye drops to prevent eye infections. In case the infection gets worse, the doctor might inject an antibiotic into your eye.
- Lens fragments:
The lens fragments are often not removed properly during the phacoemulsification process. When large pieces of lens remain, they can become a problem. They are then removed by surgical means.
