Cataract Myths
It is a myth that age alone causes cataracts. Being in your early 30s does not protect you from developing them. The lens can be damaged by trauma to the eye, either mechanical or UV radiation from sunlight.
Cataract removal is a common and simple procedure, even though eye surgery can be very complex. In most cases, the artificial lens is used to replace the defective lens. The organ is preserved, but not necessarily the organ.
Fact is, cataracts don’t recur following surgical removal. This myth can raise doubts about the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce the number of people seeking a cure. To avoid these myths, it is important to educate patients.
