Types and types of Lens
Only by removing the lens can you remove a cataract. In cataract surgery, the doctor inserts a lens that is similar to the natural lens into the eye. These IOLs can be made from transparent silicone, acrylic or plastic. These IOLs do not need to be replaced as they are permanently implanted in the eye. Lens replacement options are available in a variety of prices.
- Accommodative focus:
The natural lens changes its curvature and size to allow it to be able see clearly at a variety of distances. These lenses are more effective than monofocals. The accommodative lenses have been developed to focus objects of different lengths. However, they can only focus one object at a given time.
- Mono focal:
This is the most common type of lens. These lenses are able to focus on a specific object at a certain distance. Astigmatists had to wear spectacles for better vision.
- Toric focus:
The lenses are for those who suffer from both cataract and severe astigmatism. Astigmatism causes light to be dispersed by oval eyes. Toric lenses help focus light on the retina.
