The majority of cataracts are associated with age. However, they can also occur as a secondary condition in conjunction with other systemic illnesses, such as diabetes. According to a study, the incidence of cataract among Americans increases from 50% to 30% within five years of reaching age 75-80. Whites are more susceptible to this condition.
