Cortical cataracts
Cortical cataract is the degeneration of fibers in the cortex. The cataract starts in the cortex or outer corner of the lens, and moves to the center. These white cataracts have a wedge-like appearance. There are two different types of cortical catastrophies.
- Posterior cortex cataract
The cortex is the area where cataracts develop.
- Anterior cortical lens:
Cortical cataract is the development of a cataract in the cortical area of the eye. Cortical cataract is diagnosed in 8.2 percent.
