Cataracts types
Cataracts are classified according to how and where they form. There are three main types of cataract if classified according to the location of the cataract within the lens.
Nuclear sclerotic catastrophies
Nuclear cataracts are cataracts that develop in the middle of the eye. The center of the lens becomes dusty and blueish. This is nuclear sclerosis. Nuclear sclerosis can worsen and turn into a nuclear cataract. The blueish haze will change to yellow. Nuclear cataract is more prevalent in women with brown eyes, diabetics and those who are female. Nuclear cataract is diagnosed in 13.1% of people.
