Alcohol
Alcohol is harmful to your health in many ways. Alcohol can cause cataracts because it damages the proteins needed to make a lens. Free radicals that are formed when ethanol is broken down can cause cataracts. Alcohol can also affect the amount of calcium required by the lens, which in turn can lead to cataract. Doctors advise their patients that they should stop drinking alcohol for one week after cataract surgery to achieve better results.
