Addison’s illness
Addison disease is an uncommon disorder of the body’s endocrine glands. It is also an autoimmune disease that affects the body’s hormonal homeostasis. The body’s immune system begins to target adrenal gland cells. Therefore, the body is unable to produce cortisol, a steroid hormone that combats stress. Additionally, it regulates metabolism and appetite. Low cortisol levels result in deteriorating health, appetite, and weight loss.
