May assist in managing hypertension
High blood pressure is one of the most prevalent health conditions worldwide. Since it is the primary cause of death worldwide, high blood pressure can increase the likelihood of heart disease, brain haemorrhage, and strokes. Vitamin C may aid in lowering blood pressure in persons with or without hypertension, according to studies. According to a study, consuming a vitamin C supplement can help relax the blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart, thereby lowering blood pressure.
In addition, an analysis of 29 human test subjects indicates that taking a vitamin C supplement can reduce the systolic blood pressure by approximately 3.8 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure by approximately 1.5 mmHg in healthy individuals. Vitamin C supplementation can reduce systolic blood pressure by 4.9 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by 1.7 mmHg in hypertensive adults. However, these study results are not always encouraging because it is unclear how vitamin C affects blood pressure levels. In addition, individuals with hypertension must not rely solely on vitamin C for treatment.
