Weariness and Weakness
One of the most prevalent symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency is fatigue and frailty. Insufficiency of vitamin B12 to produce enough red blood cells to transport oxygen throughout the body causes weakness. Therefore, you are unable to efficiently transport oxygen to body cells, causing you to feel feeble. In the elderly, an autoimmune disorder such as pernicious anemia is the primary cause of vitamin B12 deficiency. Individuals with pernicious anemia cannot produce enough intrinsic factor to assimilate vitamin B12 from food in the small intestine.
