Bowel Problems

Uterine fibroids can also cause compression of the bowels, causing bloating and even constipation. Fibroids in the distal uterine part can press on the rectum, causing a feeling of fullness and pain during bowel movements. In some cases the fibroids can cause hemorrhoids. Women with large fibroids may feel pressure or a feeling of weight in the pelvis. Women often describe the pain of bowel pressure as sharp, rather than a vague discomfort. It can be difficult to exercise or bend over without feeling discomfort if you have an enlarged uterus.
