Frequent Urination

The uterus can expand if fibroids are growing and there are multiple tumors. This can cause the uterus expand to push against the bladder, reducing its capacity to store enough urine. The symptom of frequent urine production can cause severe discomfort, even at night. The fibroids that grow in the uterus can cause additional pressure to be placed on the bladder and bowel, causing frequent urination. In rare cases, fibroids may compress the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys into the bladder, i.e. the ureters. Pressure on the ureters may cause kidney dysfunction, and negatively affect urination. A larger fibroid can expand the uterus up to the size a woman in her second trimester. A larger uterus can lead to a blockage in the flow of urine. Women with uterine fibroid may need to get up multiple times in the middle of the night to urinate, and sometimes feel unable to empty their bladder.
