Diabetes During Pregnancy Complications
Gestational diabetes that is not properly managed can result in life-threatening complications for both the mother and the developing embryo. High blood sugar levels can cause complications for both mother and child, including an increased risk of a C-section delivery.
Complications that could impact the newborn
If the mother has gestational diabetes, there is a greater chance that your child will develop:
Boosting birth weight
Increasing the normal blood glucose level in mothers may cause their infants to grow to be very enormous. Babies weighing 9 pounds or more are likely to become entangled in the baby tube, sustain birth injuries, or necessitate a C-section delivery.
Serious respiratory difficulties
Premature infants born to mothers with gestational diabetes may also experience respiratory distress syndrome.
Hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) is low blood sugar.
Absent birth
later-life Type 2 diabetes and adiposity
