A history of vitiligo in the family
Nearly 30 percent of vitiligo sufferers have inherited vitiligo DNA and at least one close relative with the condition. Although an inherited skin disorder is not required for most individuals to develop vitiligo, it is one of the possible causes. In families with defective DNA, certain risk factors for vitiligo may be passed down.
