Chicken Tikka Masala
It’s hard to believe you can make a chicken tikka that is full of flavor and deeply spiced with just a few spices, but turmeric gives it a special warmth. Turmeric in the chicken tikka masala makes it an excellent meal that provides energy, protein, and antioxidant properties.
Ingredients
Here is a list of ingredients that you will need.
- Ground turmeric, 1 1/2 teaspoons
- 1 1/2 pounds of skinless and boneless chicken thighs
- 5 medium sized chopped garlic cloves
- Canola oil, 1 1/2 tablespoons
- Yellow onion, 1 1/2 cups
- Can of tomato paste without salt
- Garam masala, 1 1/2 teaspoons
- Fresh ginger grated to 1 tablespoon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup unsalted chicken stock
- One can of tomato puree
- Black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon
Method
- Add the chicken to a large pot with oil. Stir continuously while cooking for 5-6 minutes. Add ginger, garlic and onion. Add turmeric, tomato paste and cayenne to the pan and continue cooking until the spices begin to smell. Stir in the cream, tomato puree, stock, salt and pepper to bring the chicken up to a simmer. Serve the sauce after it has thickened slightly.
