Thrombocytopenia, Overview, Types, Symptoms, Causes, Treatment, Complications, Prevention, and Management
Management Thrombocytopenia
Normal low platelet counts are not an issue. Not everyone with a low platelet count needs medical attention. Sometimes, the platelet count returns to normal by itself, or, if a condition caused it, the condition will be cleared up. History can reveal a lot about the cause of thrombocytopenia.
Lifestyle modifications
When a person has thrombocytopenia it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Alcohol consumption is harmful to the body, as it slows down the production of platelets.
- Contact with toxic chemicals such as pesticides or benzene can lower the number of blood platelets.
- Avoid all activities that could cause injury, such as playing sports, bowing or rustling, if you suffer from thrombocytopenia. All of these activities can cause injury and lead to blood loss.
