Thrombocytopenia, Overview, Types, Symptoms, Causes, Treatment, Complications, Prevention, and Management

External bleeding

Patients with severe thrombocytopenia can experience both external and internal bleeding. External bleeding can include bleeding from the nose, mouth, and eyes. Capillary, veinous, or arterial bleeding can cause bleeding. The area will bleed if you have a minor cut or injury. This bleeding is not stopped by low platelet counts. Purpura and petechiae are caused by external bleeding.
