Purpura
Purpura is also called blood spots or skin hemorrhages and appears as a result thrombocytopenia. The spots are purple and can be easily recognized on the skin. Purpuras are similar to petechiaes, except that petechiaes are small spots and purpuras are large, raised lesions usually caused by skin bleeding. The membrane of the mouth can be affected. Purpura is a sign of serious medical conditions. It can appear when the platelet counts drop, causing excessive bleeding and bruising.
