Drugs and their Reactions
Some medicines, such as quinine or antibiotics containing sulfa, can have an adverse reaction on the body. When medicine reacts it can confuse your body, causing it to destroy platelets. Heparin, a medicine used to prevent blood clotting can cause thrombocytopenia due to the immune response. Other medicines like Dilantin and vancomycin used to treat seizures can also cause this reaction.
