Assembling the Pieces
Alton Harvey’s tenacity in pursuing his family tree investigation can be attributed to him. This was done to not only provide closure for his family, but to also solve a mystery. Alton and Peggy talked about how Alton wouldn’t have married Billie, then just disappeared. Alton also shared with Peggy that he assumed that Billie must have suffered a terrible tragedy and that he was going to investigate it. Billie was gone for a long time, and Alton received his military papers. This triggered a revelation of new knowledge.
Out of the Blue
Alton was given the mission to go through Army files to find out the truth about Billie and her story. When he gained access to the scattered and secret war records, Alton learned that another person had also been researching Billie. He was shocked to discover that a young Frenchwoman had been researching Billie’s story and asking questions about her.
