Small Steps Forward
Peggy was assured that the Red Cross will provide any information it has about Billie’s fate. She did her best to hold on to the hope the organization provided. The Red Cross would not do an official search but would let her know what they knew. Peggy slowly pieced the truth together as information trickled in. Where could she find answers to her questions and concerns?
Total Commitment
In World War I and II, wives, mothers, and other family members were devastated when they received telegrams informing them of the fate of those they loved the most and the miserable times they had to endure. Peggy was among many who never heard back from their loved one, Billie. In other cases, however, servicemen brought the news. Peggy had not received a telephone call, nor had she been knocked at her door. She was also unaware of what happened after 70 years. Peggy was devoted to Billie and believed that they would live the rest of their life together.
