If you’re going to trick your partner, then the excuses must be plausible. If you tell someone that you are on vacation, they will usually be suspicious. If you are still at school, you can get away with saying you have to study.
If you plan to tell this story it is best to not leave your bag in the car of your partner. You won’t be able to study if your materials aren’t available.
