Weight Loss
Significant and unexplained weight loss may indicate gastric cancer. Extreme vomiting and loss of appetite can create a negative association with food and make consuming undesirable. The inability of the body to assimilate all of the nutrients from food and a decline in the stomach’s storage capacity may contribute to weight loss. Any esophageal tumor can obstruct the food passageway, making swallowing problematic. Eating insufficient food and feeling full after consuming a very small volume of food also contribute to weight loss. Recovering from weight loss and an unhealthy body also requires considerable time. Nearly forty percent of cancer patients report significant weight loss.
