Physical Exam
Early detection of stomach cancer is extraordinarily difficult. However, those at a greater risk for gastric cancer should see their doctor on occasion. Long-lasting gastrointestinal pain can be a sign of stomach cancer and ulcers. The physician palpates the abdomen and inquires about any issues or sore areas. If the physician detects anything unusual, he will conduct additional tests and procedures to examine gastrointestinal conditions. He may also refer you to a gastroenterologist for a more thorough examination.
