Alcohol
Over the years, research has demonstrated that alcohol consumption, whether controlled or uncontrolled, can have detrimental effects on the human body. Alcohol is the primary component of intoxicating beverages. After ethanol is consumed, it is converted to aldehyde, which then undergoes additional reactions to produce acetate. The acetaldehyde found in alcoholic beverages pertains to carcinogen group 1. This acetaldehyde causes irreversible genetic damage and promotes genetic instability. This genetic instability can lead to DNA mutations and gastric cancer. People who have a history of alcohol addiction should enroll in a rehabilitation center and counseling classes in order to quit drinking and avoid the associated dangers.
