Symptoms, Causes, Stages, Diagnosis, Survival Rate, Cure, and Treatment for Stomach Cancer

Genetics and Family History

Those with a family history of gastric cancer are at an increased risk. Mutations in genes such as CDH1 and CTNNA1 make an individual more susceptible to gastric cancer. People with a family history of gastric cancer are more susceptible to developing the disease themselves. However, stomach cancer caused by genetic mutations is extremely uncommon. Approximately 1% of cancer cases are caused by genetic mutations.
