There are many types of stomach cancer.
Adenocarcinoma
Carcinoma is defined as the epithelial lining malignancy. Our stomach is lined with epithelial cells that secrete mucus, forming a mucous lining. Any uncontrolled cell division leads to gastric cancer. 90% of those who were diagnosed with gastric cancer had adenocarcinoma. Adenocarcinoma of the stomach is further subdivided into two subtypes:
The abnormal development of cells in the small intestines close to the stomach prevents food from entering the intestine. This form of cancer is relatively simple to treat compared to diffuse gastric adenocarcinoma.
This form of adenocarcinoma is referred to as diffuse as it affects the majority of the stomach. Because genetic mutations are the primary cause of this form of cancer, it is difficult to cure.
