Heartburn
Heartburn is the burning sensation felt in the thorax after eating acidic or spicy foods. Heartburn that is persistent and severe may indicate an underlying illness. Heartburns have nothing to do with the heart, but are caused by the interaction of the stomach’s acidic secretions with the tissues lining the gastrointestinal tract. It causes pharynx and stomach irritation and a burning sensation. Heartburn can also cause difficulty ingesting.
