Abdominal Pain
Extreme abdominal discomfort may be an indication of stomach cancer. This discomfort is central and localized, just above the navel. When afflicted with stomach cancer, abdominal pain may occur for a variety of causes. The discomfort may be caused by the accumulation of undigested food or by damage to the stomach lining. In addition to tumor growth and inflammation, tumor enlargement can also cause pain. Sometimes the tumors are deeply embedded in the stomach lining, and any external pressure can cause excruciating agony. The bleeding of tumors and cancerous cells may also contribute to abdominal discomfort. If the abdominal pain persists along with other gastrointestinal dysfunction, a doctor should be consulted.
