4. Cans of Food, Particularly Tomatoes
Cans of food are hazardous because they are lined with BPA. This chemical is known to disrupt hormones. Canned tomato products are particularly problematic, as the acidity of the tomatoes causes BPA to leak into the food. Tomatoes are generally healthy, but the packaging is the issue.
Alternatives– Consume fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables.
5. Hydrogenated oils
Vegetable oil is not naturally extracted from its source, but must be processed chemically. Then, more chemicals are used to create the desired consistency and look of the product. This results in a high concentration of omega-6 fats.
Alternatives– Use olive, canola, or soy oil. These oils are all naturally extracted.
