Ringworm (Overview, Symptoms, Causes, Risk factors, Home Remedies, Treatment and prevention)

Antifungal creams and tablets

Skin worms can be treated with different types of drugs. Imidazole, an organic compound, dissolves easily in water and is colorless. It produces an alkaline solution. This compound has excellent properties for treating a wide range of infections. It is therefore used in many antifungal medications. Clotrimazole is one of these medicines. Others include oxiconazole and sertaconazole. These drugs are available in creams, capsules and powders.

Ringworm is treated with different drugs in children. These include Griseofulvin Terbinafine and Itraconazole. These drugs are prescribed for 4 to 6 week depending on the severity of infection. To prevent the spread of disease, lotions and creams such as Lamisil can be applied directly to the affected area.

In some cases, the infection can be stubborn and difficult to treat. Therapy is then required. When the infection appears on the nails, doctors may prescribe Itraconazole or fluconazole.
