Fever
Patients with pulmonary embolism may experience a mild fever that rarely exceeds 38degC. Fever in patients with pulmonary embolism may be caused by an infection that results from the blocking of blood vessels in the lungs. The fever caused by pulmonary embolism is usually short-lived and disappears gradually within a week after reaching its highest point on the day of diagnosis. Medical specialists do not yet understand the pathogenesis of fever caused by pulmonary embolism, but it is one the less disturbing symptoms.
