Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating is another possible mechanism that can be seen in pulmonary embolism cases. Excessive sweating or night sweats can be caused by an increase in blood flow, which is a sign that blood vessels are trying to push blood harder to counteract pulmonary embolism-induced blood clot blocking. In some cases, blood clots can cause direct stimulation to sweat glands, resulting in excessive sweating and night-sweats.
